Radon exposure is the #1 cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers and the #2 cause of lung cancer worldwide. The EPA recommends testing for radon when buying a new home.
Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that seeps into homes through cracks in the foundation, sump pumps, and holes around floor joints and pipes. When inhaled, radon decays into radioactive alpha particles that damage the cells lining the lungs. Over time, these damaged cells can develop into lung cancer.
- 1 in 15 U.S. homes have high radon levels
- 6.9% of Canadian homes have high radon levels
- 24,000 people in the U.S. and Canada die from radon induced lung cancer per year
- A child’s risk of lung cancer from radon exposure “may be almost twice as high as the risk to adults exposed to the same amount of radon,” according to the CDC. Children have smaller lungs and faster breathing rates which means they can inhale more radon gas.
Option 1: Full Radon Protection Plan For New Home

HOW THE PLAN WORKS
Test Kit
After closing on your new home, a radon test kit, pre-paid return mailer, and simple instructions will be sent to you. Setting up the test only takes about 5 minutes.
120 Days
The radon detector remains in place for 120 days. When 120 days have passed, you will be reminded to return the test kit for analysis in the mailer provided.
Lab Analysis
The detector is processed using state-of-the-art computer-assisted image analysis equipment. We will notify you of the radon results.
Clearance
If the measured radon is below the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L, a clearance document is sent to you and no further action is required.
Mitigation
If the measured radon is equal to or above 4.0 pCi/L, we will arrange and pay for a full radon mitigation system with a certified radon mitigation contractor.
Confirmation
A post mitigation radon test will be provided to confirm the radon in your home has been reduced to levels below the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L.

Option 2: Home Radon Test Kit and Lab Results

$59.95 $47.00
One long-term radon detector, easy instructions, pre-paid return mailer, and lab results will be provided.
We recommend a monitoring period of four months (120 days) to obtain a long-term average concentration over time. The detector should be placed in the lowest lived-in area of the home. A bedroom or family room would likely be a good location for the detector. Do not place the detector in a kitchen or bathroom.
Radon exposure is the #1 cause of lung cancer in people who have never smoked and the #2 cause of lung cancer worldwide. The EPA recommends testing for radon when buying a new home.
Radon gas can fluctuate day to day, week to week, or even season to season. It can also vary between homes within the same neighborhood – which is why it is important to test your own home.
